Frequently Asked Questions

How is Active Life Company different?
Healthy bodies and a healthy environment are a top priority for us. 5% from every bottle of Kovr All Natural Sunscreen sold, goes to a non-profit organization in alignment with our conservation goals.

What's the difference between sunscreen and sunblock?
Absolutely nothing. Sunscreen and sunblock are interchangeable and both mean the same thing.

Does reef safe, reef friendly, and ocean friendly mean the same thing?
Yes, they all mean the same thing. Coral reefs serve a hugely important role to the our marine ecosystem as well as to our entire planet. Therefore, making sure our sunscreen only contains minerals that are safe for our oceans and reefs is our number one objective.

Is Kovr Sunscreen lotion natural?
Yes, Kovr All Natural sunscreen has only two active ingredients: Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide. Both of these are naturally occurring minerals.

Does SPF 70 block twice as much UVB rays as SPF 35?
No, contrary to what you would think, higher SPF products are only marginally better at shielding you from UVB rays, according to the Skin Cancer Foundation. SPF 30 blocks nearly 97% of UVB radiation, SPF 50 blocks about 98%, and SPF 100 blocks about 99%.

How many types of sunscreens are there?
Sunscreens fall into 2 major categories: chemical sunscreens and physical sunscreens. Our sunscreen, Kovr, is a physical sunscreen because it's natural and blocks UV rays with the minerals Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide.

What is a chemical sunscreen?
Chemical sunscreens commonly contain one or more of the following chemicals: Oxybenzone, Avobenzone, Octisalate, Octocrylene, Homosalate or Octinoxate. Chemical sunscreens are absorbed into the skin and then work by absorbing UV rays. The rays are then converted to heat and released from the body.

What does the term physical sunscreen mean?
Physical sunscreens, like Kovr, sit on the surface of the skin and physically reflect incoming light. Natural sunscreen is a physical sunscreen, also known as a mineral sunscreen. They contain Zinc Oxide, Titanium Dioxide, or both. The ground up Zinc Oxide and/ or Titanium Dioxide minerals protect the skin by blocking harmful UV rays.

Do you test your products on animals?
Absolutely not. We are animal lovers ourselves and do not engage in animal testing of any kind.
